A very tall, weathered saguaro cactus stands in the middle of the frame. The foreground is various types of ground cover plants in shades of yellow, orange, and grey. The plants are patchy, leaving sections of southern Arizona's sandy soil to show through. Moving up the composition we see the bottom of the saguaro is damaged and dry, grey in color with the inner skeleton of the plant visible. Above the damaged area the grey turns to green and we see five nearly identical arms growing in symmetrical formation from the cacti's center column which continues skyward where it's shape tapers as it extends into the atmosphere. There are about 6-8 short, yellow paloverde trees growing from the arid ground on either side of the saguaro. Beyond these trees we can see some desert mountains with more saguaro, then multitudes of white puffy clouds. Further up the frame the clouds thin out and we see a rich blue sky.
